Briefly describe your best win at Wheelersburg |
|
All 9 wins as a
senior were great. After going 2-4-1 as freshmen, we
were not expected to do so well, especially this being the
first year after Coach Miller's retirement. We were
smaller than ever. There were no stars on this team,
we won every game as a team and with bone-crunching hits on
defense. To choose one game I must say defeating
Portsmouth 7 - 0 at home was our greatest victory and it was
a battle for the ages. |

Briefly describe your hardest loss at Wheelersburg |
|
Opening game vs.
Columbus Academy. It was a nice 2 hour trip (add 30
minutes for our bus being pulled over for speeding) up to
Columbus to get our butts handed to us, 27 - 0. This
was a wakeup call for all of us, and we never wanted to have
that feeling again. The loss really brought us
together as a team. It was our only regular season
loss. |

Describe the most memorable event while playing at
Wheelersburg |
|
Running the 66 counter play action pass. When the
play was called my heart would start pounding out of my
chest, because I knew a big play was coming my way. We
had such great balance on offense, that teams had trouble
keying on anything. Eaton was an outstanding ball
handler, and his fakes to Hawes and Gill made it easy for me
to find an open spot running the post-corner. We
connected 3 times for td's on that play, including the first
play from scrimmage against Northwest. |
