Briefly describe your best win at Wheelersburg

Definitely the State Championship victory over Warren "JFK" Kennedy was the highlight.

But the entire playoff run, being down or tied at half-time every game, and as a TEAM finding a way to "get the job done". Looking back....that to me was the greatest victory.

Briefly describe your toughest loss at Wheelersburg

Fortunately, my senior year we never tasted that bitter anguish and regret a loss always brings. 14-0.

However, I would have to say my junior year in the playoffs against Versailles. A team that had knocked us out of the playoffs before was becoming our play-off rival. We had a unique group of very talented seniors on that team that had taught my class lessons of overcoming adversity. We left it all on the field that night, but came up a little short on the score board. The worst was seeing the end of my senior teammates Pirate Football careers in the locker room after the game.

Describe the most memorable event while playing at Wheelersburg

There is not enough room to mention all the memorable events or stories so I'll narrow it down to one.

Half-time of the State Championship game in the "Horse Shoe" at Ohio State. We come in the locker room with an unspoken thought of being lucky we are tied at 7-7 to Warren Kennedy. They are bigger and stronger than us and have moved the ball all over the field. Accept for a "special" play before the half for a touchdown, we haven't hardly moved the ball on offense. Maybe there is a feeling of satisfaction that we've made it this far, state runner-up is good and the biggest achievement in our school history. No doubt that massive line with those big backs will take a toll on us the second half.

Then Coach Miller comes into the area of the locker room I was sitting. With fire in his eyes, teeth gritting, spit flying and face beet red he said...."Men, 2nd ain't SHIT!  No one remembers 2nd place and we didn't come all the hell the way up here to be 2nd. We are in great shape, they are tired...Now Lets Go Get The Job Done, Damn-it!"

Needless to say, We got the job done!
